The 5 biggest international suppliers of exported perfumes are France, Spain, Germany, Italy and the United States of America. Collectively, that cohort of perfume exporters accounted for almost two-thirds (64.2%) of globally exported perfumes during 2023.
Among continents, European countries sold the highest dollar worth of exported perfumes during 2023 with shipments from Europe valued at $20.3 billion or about three-quarters (74.6%) of the global total. In second place were Asian exporters at 14.1%, while another 8% of worldwide shipments originated from North America.
Smaller percentages came from suppliers in Latin America (2.3%) excluding Mexico but including the Caribbean, Africa (0.6%), then Oceania (0.3%) mostly Australia.
For research purposes, the 4-digit Harmonized Tariff System code prefix for perfumes and toilet waters is 3303. That code prefix specifically excludes aftershave lotions, personal deodorants and hair lotions.
