Overall exports of strawberries increased by 24.9% compared to $3.85 billion five years earlier in 2019.
Year over year, globally exported strawberries rose 2.4% compared to $4.69 billion for 2022.
Renown for its bright red color, juicy texture, sweetness and distinct aroma, a strawberry is a popular fruit eaten raw or consumed in prepared foods and drinks including puddings, jams, pies, ice cream, milkshakes and juices.
Fresh strawberries accounted for $3.51 billion worth of worldwide strawberry exports or 73.1% of the overall total. That percentage compares to 70.9% for 2022 and 70.6% in 2019.
Exported frozen strawberries represent $1.3 billion or the remaining 26.9% of the global strawberry sum.
The value of globally exported fresh strawberries grew in value by 5.4% since 2022 when fresh strawberries exports were valued at $3.33 billion.
Shipments of frozen strawberries in 2023 fell by -5% compared to $1.36 billion for 2022.
